Hello Everyone! Welcome to FitPlus5!

 

Or should I say welcome home?! You’ve taken the first step towards health and becoming the best version of yourself! I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, and I love that I have been given the opportunity to share my experiences and the hope I have found through facing the challenges life has thrown my way. I'm not a doctor or therapist, however I do have the knowledge and strength from 15 years of facing the ups and downs of personal health challenges. It is my hope that this website and program will offer practical tools to help you navigate through life’s ups, downs, twists, and turns. Humans are complicated creatures, but there is one thing we all have in common: life is challenging! From depression to chemical dependency, from emotional disorders to stress and anxiety, we all struggle at times.

 

You are not alone!

 

I want to start off by sharing the "cliff notes" of my personal

experiences. Believe me, this journey has not been easy; but I have

found a sense of peace and serenity that I wouldn't change for the

world! I have learned things about myself that I would never have seen

if I had chosen the easy way out or remained closed off to what God's

plan for my life is. I "woke up" 4 years ago, and after seeing 204

pounds on the scale, I knew something had to change. I had gotten to

this point after years of crash diets, which caused me to gain and lose

the same 20 pounds over and over again, each time putting on more

weight at the end of each crash. I was lost, had very little self-worth,

and a list of emotional problems to go with that. I hit rock bottom and

slowly started working on my inside issues and began to love myself

just enough to realize that I was worth so much more! Through that realization, I was able to

get out of depression enough to make better overall health choices and my outer appearance started to match my newly found self-respect.  As the number on the scale went down, the passion inside me grew.

 

Here was my simple plan:

 

1. Get my emotional health in check and look at past patterns that had gotten me to the

    dark place.

 

2. Set my body up for success by fueling it with nutritionally dense food and a meal plan of 5

    small meals throughout the day

 

3. Consistent exercise. A very wise friend told me “the best exercise for YOU is the one you DO!”

    I started with Zumba® because I love to dance and it didn’t feel like work. I added strength

    training and yoga and the fat really began to melt!

 

4. I changed my relationship with food. Now don’t get me wrong, I still very much enjoy

    wonderful yummy food☺ but I now understand that I am so much happier and healthier

    when what goes in my body is quality. Juice Plus+ helped me with that part. I still have a

    smoothie every day

 

5. I got a “health posse" – people in my life who lift me up and support me and vice versa.

    I also have things in my life that bring me joy and continue to motivate me like music.

    So here I was, down 40 pounds,  and had a fire ignited inside me that made me think "wow

    I feel great, I wonder how far I can go? I want to be the best version of myself!" I dropped

    another 10 pounds and fell in love with my new life style.

 

The next chapter in my life taught me real change: consistent training, healthy eating habits,

and a continued renewal of my emotional health on a daily basis has given me a more fulfilled life than I could have imagined. In 2014 I got engaged to the love of my life. What's the first thing any bride-to-be does? Go shopping for a wedding dress of course! Long story short, the dress came in

3 months later and I couldn't get it over my hips. Yikes! After a momentary freak out, I thought, "OK, here is an opportunity for me to dig deeper and to really achieve the best version of myself.

I called up my favorite trainer for some guidance and encouragement. I started "operation wedding dress" the next day. The program consisted of three high-intensity cardio workouts a week, two days of a simple – yet effective – weight training circuit, and one Pilates or yoga day.  After six weeks I'm happy to say my beautiful form-fitting dress fit! I was able to drop those last stubborn 10 pounds and inches around my hips and waist.  This didn't come without its challenges, but keeping my eye on the prize helped keep me motivated. Sure the dress was a huge part of it, but feeling confident that I was the happiest/healthiest version of myself on my special day gave me so much joy!

 

I now have became certified in Body Combat (a martial arts-based workout) and I love helping others release their inner warrior. I have found my “new normal” – Erin 2.0 I call it. Down 65 pounds and living life every day to the fullest! I am also now a certified Health Coach and feel

so honored to help others find their best selves!
